Our community garden has been developed over the last 2 years on a formerly neglected peice of Common Good Ground near the 12th century Greyfriars Friary in the centre of Inverkeithing, Fife. Our community garden offers a fantastic panorama - over the bay and the River Forth to Edinburgh and the Lothians.
We have two raised beds, one an appropriate height for wheelchair users. We grow vegetables and salads and we have flower and herb borders. Since we have only had one growing season, we plan to develop our compost heap and maybe a wormery this spring for demonstration purposes and try out different vegetables.
Over this winter (2011 - 2012) we are preparing the rest of the ground for an orchard of Scottish and English Heritage Apple Trees and once fences are up and the old wall repaired, we plan to hold an Adopt - A - Tree event towards the end of May (2012).
